Australia is a high-regulation environment with strong capabilities in agriculture and animal protein. Increasing environmental requirements and the shift toward circular economy models are driving demand for more sustainable alternatives – creating a relevant context for VNF’s approach.
♻️ RetriV – from validation to deployment
VNF conducted on-site jartests at industrial facilities to assess its nutrient recovery technology under real conditions.
Initial results indicate the technology can be applied in practice, forming the basis for an MOU to establish RetriV Oceania.
VNF also worked with partners on chitosan-based solutions for water treatment, from surface water to domestic wastewater. This suggests a potential extension toward broader bio-based water treatment, as the market looks for alternatives to conventional chemical systems.
🐾 Shrimp-based ingredients in pet nutrition Tôm4Pet
VNF collaborated with partners to evaluate shrimp-based ingredients in the pet food segment.
Alongside commonly used protein sources in Australia such as kangaroo, beef, and lamb, shrimp-derived protein may offer a differentiated option – particularly in digestibility, functionality, and sustainability.
This could support positioning in more specialized or premium segments over time.
🎓 Developing the ecosystem through academic collaboration
VNF engaged with professors at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where its circular ecosystem approach was received with interest.
These exchanges may open opportunities for collaboration across research and applied development, contributing to a broader ecosystem supporting market entry.
