Inclusive business was not VNF’s starting point.
That journey began with the “E” in ESG, driven by the ambition to solve the problem of shrimp by-products and transform them into a resource for the future.
On June 17, Ms. Nguyen Van An, Chief Strategy Officer of VNF, shared these practical experiences at the program “Inclusive Business Through a Gender Lens,” organized by FIIS — the FTU Innovation and Incubation Space — in collaboration with APED and UN Women.
Starting from the challenge of shrimp by-products, VNF has gradually integrated governance and social responsibility factors into its development strategy. Through that process, inclusive business has steadily become part of its long-term growth model.
Value is shared across stakeholders in the ecosystem:
– Workers receive investment in training, working environment, and development opportunities — particularly female workers.
– Cooperatives and farms participate more deeply in the value chain, generating additional income from by-products and gaining access to biological solutions.
– The business is able to sustain its model, scale up, and amplify its impact.
Ultimately, what matters is not the scale of the commitment, but whether the value created truly reaches all participating parties.
Inclusive business is not something added on to business operations; it is the way growth and value are created together.
VNF sincerely thanks FTU (Phân hiệu Trường Đại học Ngoại thương tại TP. Hồ Chí Minh), FIIS, APED, UN Women, Ms. Kim Lan, Ms. Thu Ha, and Ms. Thu Huong for creating such a meaningful forum where practical experiences can be heard and shared.
