VNF SHARED ITS CIRCULAR ECONOMY STORY AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AQUACULTURE 2024

📰 The International Conference on Aquaculture (iCAF), hosted by the College of Aquaculture and Fisheries – Can Tho University, took place from October 17-19 in Phu Quoc. With the theme “Panoramic View of Innovations”, this year’s conference brought together more than 230 scientists and industry leaders from 19 countries. Over 120 articles were presented, showcasing cutting-edge research, advancements in aquaculture technologies, breakthrough ideas and innovations in the field.

💡Mr. Loc Phan (Loc Phan ),
Chairman of VNF, had the honor of being one of four keynote speakers at the plenary session, joining notable figures as Prof. Nguyen Thanh Phuong (Rector of Can Tho University)/ Prof. Vu Ngoc Ut (Rector of the College of Aquaculture and Fisheries), Prof. Patrick Sorgeloos (Patrick Sorgeloos – Ghent University, Belgium), and Dr. Nguyen Thanh My (Chairman of Mylan Group).
💡 Mr. Loc’s presentation focused on promoting a circular and sustainable seafood industry by upcycling seafood by-products, following the irreversible trend of the circular economy. He shared various case studies of successful circular models around the world, including the US and EU. Inspired by these examples, VNF has embraced circular economy principles from its inception, adopting a biotechnological zero-waste approach to extract bio-ingredients from shrimp by-products. Over its 10-year journey, VNF has successfully reintroduced these extracted ingredients back into the shrimp industry and expanded their use to other agricultural sectors.
💡These circular business models demonstrate that circularity can evolve from being merely a passive obligation to becoming a proactive advantage, fostering both environmental and economic benefits.

♻️ Anne Marie Bonneau, known as the Zero-Waste Chef, once said, “We don’t need a handful of people doing Zero Waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”
♻️ We need to work together to further develop the circular economy and strive for a greener and more sustainable world. If you share this perspective and are interested in partnering, we would love to connect and collaborate 🤝.
